About our Vaginal pH Test
Our vaginal pH test comes with special vaginal pH test strips. The strip is simply inserted into the vagina to collect a sample. When the sampling strip comes into contact with the pH paper on the test strip, the color changes. Different pH values result in different hues and shades, with each specific pH value associated with a specific hue or shade on the color scale included with the test.
The importance of vaginal pH balance
A balanced vaginal pH is crucial for maintaining a healthy vaginal environment and preventing infections. Most pathogenic bacteria cannot survive in the naturally acidic environment of the vagina. Normally, the vaginal pH is between 3.8 and 4.5. Unfortunately, vaginal infections are common and can be a recurring problem for women of all ages. Detecting an imbalance in vaginal discharge is important for the early detection and treatment of infections.
An imbalance in the vaginal bacterial flora can cause an increase in pH and the development of bacterial vaginosis, also known as vaginal catarrh. This is a vaginal infection. It can manifest itself as a foul odor in the genital area and a change in the color and consistency of the discharge. If left untreated, bacterial vaginosis can lead to complications and sometimes requires medical attention. The infection can also impair the vaginal defenses against other infections. Therefore, it is important to treat it as soon as possible to prevent further complications.
This rapid vaginal pH test is CE marked for home use and is also approved for in vitro diagnostic (IVD) use.
Symptoms of bacterial vaginosis / pH imbalance
Especially after intercourse and during menstruation, when the pH level rises, foul-smelling discharge is one of the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis. The discharge can be clear, gray, white, or green. A burning sensation at the vaginal opening may also occur. It's important to note: It's not bacterial vaginosis itself that causes the itching, but a yeast infection (Candida), which can cause these symptoms. If you want to test for Candida, you can do that here.
Our at-home vaginal pH test offers you a simple and reliable way to monitor your vaginal health and detect any pH imbalance early. This allows you to take the necessary steps to maintain a healthy vaginal environment.
