About Our Vaginal pH Test
Our Vaginal pH Test comes with special vaginal pH test strips. The swab is simply inserted into the vagina to collect a sample. When the collection swab comes into contact with the pH paper on the test strip, the color changes. Different pH values result in different shades and hues, with each specific pH value assigned a particular hue or shade on the color chart included with the test.
The Importance of Vaginal pH Balance
Maintaining a balanced vaginal pH is crucial for a healthy vaginal environment and preventing infections. Most pathogenic bacteria cannot survive in the naturally acidic environment of the vagina. Normally, the vaginal pH is between 3.8 and 4.5. Unfortunately, vaginal infections are widespread and can be a recurring problem for women of all ages. Detecting an imbalance in the acidity of vaginal discharge is important for early diagnosis and treatment of infections.
An imbalance in the vaginal bacterial flora can lead to an increase in pH and the development of bacterial vaginosis, also known as vaginal catarrh. This is a vaginal infection. It can manifest through an unpleasant odor in the genital area and a change in the color and consistency of discharge. If left untreated, bacterial vaginosis can lead to complications and sometimes requires medical attention. The infection can also impair the vagina's protection against other infections. Therefore, it is important to treat it as soon as possible to avoid further complications.
This rapid vaginal pH test has a CE mark for home use and is also approved for in vitro diagnostics (IVD).
Symptoms of Bacterial Vaginosis / pH Imbalance
Especially after sexual intercourse and during menstruation, when pH levels rise, foul-smelling discharge is among the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis. The discharge can be clear, gray, white, or green. Burning at the vaginal opening can also occur. Important to note: It is not bacterial vaginosis itself that causes itching, but rather a yeast infection (Candida) that can cause these symptoms. If you want to test for Candida, you can do so here.
Our at-home vaginal pH test offers you a simple and reliable method to monitor your vaginal health and detect a pH imbalance in good time. This allows you to take the necessary measures to maintain a healthy vaginal environment.
How to Measure Vaginal pH
Using this rapid vaginal pH test is simple and convenient. The test consists of an individual test stick specially designed to measure the pH value in the vagina.
Follow these simple steps to perform the test:
- Wash your hands thoroughly before opening the vaginal pH test kit.
- Remove the swab from the packaging without touching the tip itself.
- Separate the labia to access the vagina.
- Insert the swab approximately 5 centimeters into the vagina and wait for about 10 seconds.
- Remove the swab and compare the color change with the enclosed color scale.
