What is measured in the pregnancy test?
Our pregnancy test is the perfect solution if you want to know if you are pregnant. The test measures hCG levels and can thus determine if you have conceived. hCG is a hormone produced by the embryo to stimulate the corpus luteum to produce progesterone. This hormone causes the formation of more blood vessels in the uterus, thereby creating optimal conditions for the implantation and growth of the egg. It usually takes about 7-10 days after fertilization for hCG to be detectable in urine.
Signs of Pregnancy
- Tender and swollen breasts.
- Nausea and possibly vomiting, especially in the morning (morning sickness)
- Changes in appetite, either decreased or increased.
- Fatigue and tiredness.
- Sensitivity to certain smells.
- Exaggerated emotionality or tearfulness.
Early signs of pregnancy can be noticed as early as the 3rd week of pregnancy. However, they are rather rare. It usually takes until the 4th or 5th week for you to really start feeling the signs of pregnancy. At this point, you will likely notice that your period is late. Additionally, your appetite may change, and you may feel tired and unwell.
Instructions
Preparation
Ensure that the test and urine sample are at room temperature (15-30 °C). Use a clean and dry container to collect the urine sample. It is recommended to perform the test with the first urine in the morning, but samples can also be collected at any other time of day. For pregnancy tests, the sample should be collected at the end of urination to flush out urethral flora. Hold the container in the urine stream and collect 2-5 ml of urine in the sample container.
Effect of medications
False positive results can be caused by medications containing hCG. Other medications such as alcohol, oral contraceptives, painkillers, antibiotics, or hormone treatments without hCG are not affected by the test result.
Procedure
- Remove the test from the pouch and use immediately (within one hour).
- Remove the cap from the test and hold the absorbent tip in the urine stream for at least 15 seconds, or dip the absorbent tip into a clean cup of urine.
- Replace the cap on the test and place it on a clean, stable surface.
- Start the timer.
